I was born in 1991, in Porto. Fifteen years after that event I started studying guitar, at Conservatório de Música do Porto. I completed a Bachelor degree in Composition at ESMAE (Porto – Portugal), having studied with Rui Penha, Eugénio Amorim and Daniel Moreira. I’ve also finished a Master degree in Improvisation at Högskolan för scen och musik (Göteborg – Sweden) having developed a dissertation intitled Perception, Memory and Expectations: a sketch for a perception based compositional approach.
My freelance activity has been divided in three main areas: composing and performing concert music / music for dance and theatre, developing and programming electronic instruments and teaching music theory, composition and performance.
I’ve collaborated with PELE – Espaço de Contacto composing and performing music for pieces like “Quase Nada”, “Nós”, “Povoar” and “Caminhos ao pôr do sol”. Have developed the sound design for the dance piece “Agente”, by Joana Lopes and Oirana Moraes.
Moreover, I frequently collaborate with João Grilo as Probióticos: os microorganismos que te fazem bem both as an electronics / piano duo where we both compose and perform, and also as a composition duo, being our latest work the music for the dance piece coexistimos, by Inês Campos.
Finally, I’m a founder and active member of Interferência a Porto based organization which produces projects involving contemporary music, it’s production and dissemination, besides developing educative projects.
